The Slovak National Museum, in Bratislava, will play host to 8 Tibetan monks, from 16th April until the 23rd April, 2009. Their visit is the first of related events to the successful Šangri-la: India – Nepal – Tibet – Bhutan exhibition.
The monks from the small Lhodak Gaden Dhonnyiling monastery will visit Bratislava for eight days as part of their pilgrimage to support the renovation of the Buddhist monastery in India. Their original monastery was founded in 17th century in Tibet.
40 years have past since their monastery was destroyed in the 1950’s and the monks were able to build a new home in the North of India. The means for running their monastery are also raised on their journeys.
In Bratislava, they will try to gain goodwill and support with a rich program of ritual dances with masks, pouring the ritual mandala from sand, creating statues from butter and discussions with the public.
More information can be found on the Sangri-la website.
